1. Parks.

2. Pilmsoll Line
Invented by Samuel Plimsoll (1824 – 1898), who was elected as the Liberal MP for Derby in 1867 and 1880. The informative line is found on a ship's hull indicating the maximum safe loading for vessels. Photo: PAUL ELLIS
3. Bakewell puddings.
Bakewell puddings were amazingly created by mistake. A cook stirred eggs and almond paste mixture into the pastry and spread it on top of the jam and the mixture set like a custard and the Bakewell Pudding was invented. Photo: Epics
4. Harry M Stevens.
Harry M Stevens (1856–1934) was born in Litchurch, Derby, and is credited with the invention of the hot dog in the USA. It was Harry's brilliant idea to put sausages into bread rolls. Photo: Cesc Maymo
