Hide AdPrimark, famed for its low cost clothing, has stocked the new two-storey shop with ladieswear, menswear, childrenswear, accessories and homewear.
A Meadowhall spokesman said: “Although the shoppers were predominantly women the store also stocks a menswear range - which will undoubtedly pull in the students once they return to the city.”
Primark is one of three new shops to open on The Gallery - a new section of mall which was created from the old Sainsbury's store.
The other two stores are shoe retailer Tamaris and stationery emporium Paperchase.
A number of other retailers will open in The Gallery over the coming weeks, including Next which will relocate from its current store to a huge new unit.
