Fanfare sounds start of legal year
The High Sheriff of South Yorkshire, Col Jonathan Hunt OBE, hosted the Letters Patent Ceremony at the Crown Court yesterday welcoming High Court judges.
First to arrive was the Honorary Recorder of Sheffield, His Honour Judge Alan Goldsack QC, dressed in full regalia, accompanied by the High Sheriff in dress uniform and his chaplain Rev Philip Ireson.

Hide AdThe Lord Mayor of Sheffield Coun Arthur Dunworth and his Lady Mayoress Coun Kathleen Chadwick were also present.
A fanfare of trumpets from the South Yorkshire Police Band then welcomed the High Court judge, Mr Justice Alan Wilkie, to the Crown Court, where the Letters Patent were read out - signifying the authority of the Crown for the cases to be heard throughout the coming year.
