Hockey: Sheffield Hallam move out of dropzone with narrow win over fellow strugglers
The team bounced back from their 5-1 drubbing away at Olton last time out to record only their second win of the campaign.
Despite dominating the opening quarter, goals eluded Sheffield initially.

Hide AdEventually the pressure was too much and Peterborough were forced into a desperate tackle in front of goal, resulting in a penalty stroke.
Cameron Down stepped up and duly opened the scoring.
The second half was a much cagier affair with Peterborough searching for an equaliser.
As they pushed forward, the hosts came under increased pressure.
Sheffield were able to take advantage of the increased space in the Peterborough half and mounted a number of counter-attacks.

Hide AdOne of these proved successful as Matt Godden won the ball in midfield for Sheffield.
He then fed Myles King who brought a fine stop from the keeper, as did Brett Tucker with the rebound.
But it was third time lucky for Sheffield as Tom Feasby was on hand to reverse hit the ball into the goal for Sheffield’s second.
Peterborough halved the deficit with a penalty corner late on but Sheffield hung on.
Sheffield host Durham University this Sunday (12.45pm).

Hide AdHallam ladies' first team returned from the long trip to Whitley Bay without anything to show for their efforts having lost 1-0.
