The Owls were back at Middlewood Road to undergo testing ahead on Friday morning, arriving in staggered groups as their fitness levels were tested ahead of the start of preseason proper when they head out to Wales.
Darren Moore’s side will face Celtic on July 7th at the end of a 10-day training camp out west, with the manager and his technical team looking to put the players through their paces ahead of what is likely to be a tough 2021/22 campaign navigating through League One.

Hide AdWith so much happening behind the scenes at the club including a transfer embargo and unpaid wages, there were plenty of eyes on today’s return to S6 – with Börner’s name in particular of interest after Hannover announced that (subject to clearance) he had agreed to join them for the campaign ahead.
But, like in-demand Josh Windass, the German was back at Middlewood Road and getting to work as expected, with the club showing pictures of him in the dome at their training ground being assessed by staff.
It came on a day where Wednesday also confirmed a long-term kit sponsorship with Italian brand, Macron, as they took over from Elev8, while a new coaching member was also announced as Adriano Basso comes in to take on the role of goalkeeper coach.
Basso comes in as Nicky Weaver drops back down into the U23 setup, with the Brazilian now set to work alongside Moore, his assistant, Jamie Smith, and first team coaches, Paul Williams and Neil Thompson, bringing the first of what is thought to be many fresh faces to matters before the 2021/22 season gets underway.
