Windass’ early dismissal in Pulis’ first game in charge put the Owls on the back foot against Preston North End, with Wednesday playing 75 minutes while down to 10 men after the SWFC forward was given the first red card of his career.
Referee, David Webb, gave Windass his marching orders as he became the fourth Wednesday player to be sent off so far this season, equalling their tally for the entirety of the 2019/20 Championship campaign after just 12 matches.

Speaking to the media after the defeat at Deepdale, the new Wednesday boss said, “I haven’t seen it back yet, but his foot was high… We’re not going to be able to appeal, we won’t get away with it, because they’ll say it was dangerous play - and that’s me just seeing it when it happened.
“I spoke to Sky Sports and they thought it was harsh and should have been a yellow card, but it’s tossing a coin.”
He went on to say, “I thought Josh could have headed it… I thought he could’ve come and not put his foot up there and take that chance.

“Red cards are not what we need, and the three games that Josh is going to miss is another stick that’s going to hit us that we don’t need.”
Windass will miss games against Swansea City, Stoke City and Reading, while Harris will be back in contention for the home clash against the Royals once he has served his respective suspension.
