The 19-year-old is expected to be sent out on loan by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the campaign ahead as he looks to get some regular playing time under his belt, and the Owls are one of several teams who have been linked with a possible move to secure his services.
Garner has shone for United’s U23s this season, scoring nine goals in 12 games from midfield, and has been tipped to take a brief step away from Old Trafford in order to get more senior minutes in his legs.

MEN said this week, “Swansea City are leading the race to sign James Garner on loan from Manchester United this summer, with Sheffield Wednesday also in contention for his signature.”
The Star understands that, despite previous interest from outside the country, it is now looking likely that the talented midfielder will be in the Championship next season, although there’s been no clear indication as to where exactly he will end up.
Garner is tipped for big things, with United’s U23s boss, Neil Wood, telling the Athletic recently, “Jimmy has been around first-team training throughout the season… He has trained with them then come back with us. The opportunity is there for him.

“I think it would be a good test for him to go out play regularly; one or two games a week if he drops down to the Championship.”
Wednesday recently boosted their midfield with the signing of Fisayo Dele-Bashiru from Manchester City, and Garner is another player that fits the ‘young, hungry and dynamic’ profile that Garry Monk is looking for.
