Sheffield Wednesday dealt backroom blow as Tony Strudwick heads to Arsenal

Strudwick was brought to the club by Steve Bruce and despite the manager’s controversial departure for Newcastle, stayed on at Wednesday where he has worked under three permament bosses in Garry Monk, Tony Pulis and Darren Moore as well as two caretakers in Lee Bullen and Neil Thompson.
Previously of Manchester United, the vastly experienced Strudwick – who also works with the Wales national team – is to become the Gunners’ academy head of sports science and medicine, according to Yorkshire Live.

Hide AdIt is understood that the vast majority of Wednesday’s pre-season plans have been put in place before he moves on.
As reported by The Star yesterday, Wednesday are due back at Middlewood Road in the final week of June.
On top of that, it’s thought that a pre-season camp in Wales is also being organised, though not nailed down as yet, with Celtic a potential opponent there.
