It may have only been for the U23s, but Green got off the mark in blue and white this week, scoring a well-taken goal for Sheffield Wednesday as they beat Hull City 3-0.
Green was brought in during the January transfer window to help bolster the Owls’ attacking threat, however an Achilles injury he picked up in training meant that he’s not been able to have the impact that he’d been hoping for.

On the back of his first goal in a Wednesday shirt, Green has revealed how delighted he is to be playing for the new Owls boss, saying it’s ‘the best thing that could happen for my career’.
The attacker said: “The gaffer was in charge of West Brom’s Under-23s when I was at Villa so he knows about me and my game… I was with the physios when I found out about his appointment here and they will tell you I couldn’t stop smiling, I was buzzing.
“From the conversations I’ve had and knowing how he plays, this is the best thing that could happen for my career.

“I’m really excited for the future but right now the priority is giving all we can to stay up and we will go to QPR on Saturday with confidence.”
Green has admitted that it’s been a stop-start beginning to life at Hillsborough following his move earlier in the year, but as he goes in search of his first senior goal for the club he’s got the chance to be part of something that could become a remarkable achievement.
