Nearly 60% of Sheffield Wednesday squad could leave for free on July 1st - leaving them with just TWELVE players

The Owls have used a total of 29 different players in the Championship this season including Aden Flint, who has since returned to Cardiff City after a serious injury just a few games into his loan spell at Hillsborough.
Of the 28 players remaining, just 12 of them are currently contracted beyond the end of the current campaign, and only three of them have deals beyond 2022. There is plenty of uncertainty surrounding the club at present as they fight for their lives in the Championship and Darren Moore consistently has to use players who may or not still be wearing blue and white come July 1st.

Hide AdWhile Barry Bannan recently signed a new deal as he committed his future to the club, there will now be serious concerns about who will be left over when the 2021/22 season rolls around – whichever division they find themselves in.
Here’s how things stand at present:
2021
Izzy Brown, Jack Marriott (both loans), Kadeem Harris, Alex Hunt (has a one-year option), Sam Hutchinson (has an option), Elias Kachunga, Tom Lees, Moses Odubajo, Joey Pelupessy, Matt Penney, Adam Reach, Jordan Rhodes, Liam Shaw (set to join Celtic in Scotland), Osaze Urhoghide, Joost van Aken, Keiren Westwood.
2022
Julian Borner, Chey Dunkley, Andre Green, Dominic Iorfa, Massimo Luongo, Liam Palmer, Callum Paterson, Joe Wildsmith, Josh Windass.
2023
Barry Bannan, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
2024
Cameron Dawson.
There is understandably a delay in new deals as both parties way up the way forward – the club in terms of what they can commit to, and the players in terms of considering if they want to play in League One – but new manager, Darren Moore, will be hoping for more clarity as soon as possible.

Defeat in those games would set a new club record losing streak (nine games) and almost condemn them to Championship relegation.
