Because with so many players likely to leave the club this summer, the squad overhaul many Wednesdayites have longed for in recent years looks likely to continue.
Several long-serving Wednesday players were moved on ahead of last season and with only club captain Barry Bannan the only player confirmed to have agreed a contract extension this season, several more look likely to head for the exit door.

Hide AdAnd the circumstances can lead to an exciting time for the club, according to its longest-serving player Liam Palmer who said he had enjoyed working under Darren Moore and his coaching staff this season and suggested he will have a clear plan for what lies ahead.
“Whatever division you’re in, you want a good mix of experience an youth and maybe a couple that are a bit different and bring that x-factor,” he told The Star. “We’ve had a good mix of that throughout the years.
“I can’t speak for the recruitment guys or the manager as to what his plans are because I don’t know, but I think he’ll be looking to keep some experience, bring in some youth and either keep some exciting players or bring some to the football club.”
The defender has played 298 times for the club he has been at since he was seven years old.

Hide AdHe said: “In the last six years, it’s probably a squad that has stuck together with one or two coming and going, but the actual core of the group has been together since pre-Carlos.
“Up until last year when a lot of them did leave, we’ve had a settled core squad which is unusual in this day and age.
“Some of the boys have been together for five or six or seven years.
“There’s always a focus on the ones who might be going, the only thing for me in being a constant in that is that whether you’re going to be here or not, it’s still in your best interests to do well for the club.”
