Hide AdBut Monk says it was the ‘courage’ of the performance that he found especially pleasing as his side ended a run of three successive defeats at the Amex.
“It was deserved overall,” he said. “I wanted us to put a bit of pride back in ourselves after the three games we just had.
“We talked about it and we all wanted to see that courage today from the group and we got that.
“That’s the little bit that we lacked in the week. We lacked that usual courage without the ball and with the ball. Today we had that in abundance.”

Hide AdMonk believes that the result puts a marker down as to what the Owls can achieve this season.
“That proves to them exactly what they can do,” he said.
“It’s about doing that every single game. That’s the demand on us and it’s difficult to do, but I was very pleased with that performance.
“It was full of what we had been doing for the majority of it [the season] but last week we let ourselves down.
“We had to show a response and we did that today.
“We knew coming here we would have to be right on our game.
“The attitude was the main thing that stuck out today, that’s what we’ve been trying to get to and work with the players on.
