Nuhiu became a cult hero at Hillsborough after spending the better part of the last decade with the Owls, and recently became just the second Wednesday player this century to score 50 goals for the club.
The Kosovan international, who started in their 2-1 loss to Greece in the UEFA Nations League last night, left S6 at the end of last season, and Garry Monk has stated that it is unlikely – at this stage at least – that the big man will return.

Hide AdHe told the media, “At the moment, yes (Nuhiu and Lee have left)… Obviously I’ve huge respect for those two, they’re great guys and were fantastic to work with, but at this moment in time the transition is to move to a more dynamic and younger squad.”
But with a 12-point deduction around their neck and just over a month left to finalise their squad, Monk will no doubt be seeking seniority as well as youth as he looks to make sure the Owls remain in the Championship for 2021/22.
Reports over the weekend had suggested that talks were still going on between Nuhiu and SWFC, but The Star understands that that’s not the case at present, however as the saying goes, ‘never say never’ in football.
Wednesday are known to be on the hunt for a target man as Monk seeks to bolster his attack for the season ahead.
