“I’ve got him on toast!” – Cameron Dawson on stopping Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and his hopes for Jordan Rhodes

Dawson, 25, is one of several Owls academy graduates in the current Wednesday setup, and is in an ongoing battle with long-term friend and teammate, Joe Wildsmith, to be Garry Monk’s first choice.
Speaking to The Star today, ‘Daws’ spoke of how he’s got Fizz’s number right now, but admitted that he often can’t even get close to Jordan Rhodes’ efforts.

“I think I struggle, always struggle, with Jordan Rhodes. There’s a reason he’s scored so many goals, and in finishing drills I’ve never seen anyone just so easily stroke the ball into corners. It’s the most frustrating thing in the world.
So with that in mind, is this the season Rhodes finds his scoring boots in blue and white?
“He’s obviously a top striker at this level and has scored a lot of goals,” Dawson says. “I think all the boys and Rhodesy himself are really hoping and believing that this year could be the year he kicks on again after scoring the hundreds of goals that he has. Hopefully he can contribute to a really positive season for us.”
