A whole host of big names left the club last summer for pastures new; to Serie A, to non-league and to Cyprus. Some prospered, some have had a really bad time of it. One has even made a shock return to S6.
Let’s take a look at how they’ve got on since leaving Wednesday..

2. Preslav Borukov
The release of Bulgarian youngster Borukov took some by surprise. As revealed by The Star last year, the forward had a number of options in Europe but signed for Etar back in his home country due to complications caused by the Covid crisis. He did well, scoring 12 times in 32 appearances for the relegated side and is looking for a move back to Western Europe. Photo: Getty Images
3. Alessio Da Cruz
Alessio Da Cruz showed glimmers of promise in his time at Hillsborough but failed to truly make the grade. He returned to Parma and spent last season on loan with Eredivisie side FC Groningen, where he acquitted himself well, scoring four times in 22 league outings. Photo: Francesco Pecoraro
4. Sam Hutchinson
Frozen out under Monk in the 2019/20 season, Hutchinson's release in the summer was no surprise, unlike his next move, which saw him head off to FC Pafos in Cyprus. His stint there was brief and former Owls boss Tony Pulis launched a bid to bring him back in January. Pulis departed but Hutchinson still arrived, triggered a contract extension into next season and played 22 times. Photo: Bryn Lennon
