How Sheffield Wednesday star made young Owls’ birthday – Well played, Kieren Westwood
and live on Freeview channel 276
Budding young footballer, James Belshaw, 10, was surprised by his mother, Sara, today with an Owls shirt signed by his favourite player, which he described as ‘the best present ever!’
“Keiren’s been wonderful,” said JB’s mum. “My mum has been stuck in New York so isn’t able to be with us for his birthday, and we recently lost my grandmother... Due to all the circumstances, I wanted to do something special for James, so I reached out to Westy and he has been amazing!

So is the plan to take Westwood’s place in the future? You bet it is!
His mum explained, “James plays forward for his Sunday league team, but has trained as a goalkeeper with 5 Star Sports Academy in New York. Since moving home last year he now trains down at Middlewood Road with the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme and they’ve been working on goalkeeping with him too!
“He wants to start like Liam Palmer and try to get into the academy and work his way to the first team.”
