“He doesn’t understand why…” - Garry Monk confirms Sheffield Wednesday’s stance after Kadeem Harris’ red card

After Joost van Aken was red carded in the 1-0 defeat to Luton Town and Tom Lees saw red as they lost 3-0 to Rotherham United, the last thing that the Owls needed was another dismissal – but late into their big 1-0 win over Bournemouth it was exactly what they got.
With Monk’s side trying to cling onto victory following Barry Bannan’s opening goal from the spot, Kadeem Harris was given his marching orders by referee, Jeremy Simpson, in the 94th minute of the game.

Hide AdHis dismissal means that, as things stand, Harris will miss the Owls’ next three games against Millwall, Preston North End and Swansea City – however his boss insists they’ll be looking to appeal the decision.
Speaking to The Star after the game, Monk explained, “We’ll get the footage… Kads has quite clearly done the tackle, and the lad on top of him has tried to pin Kads down.
“He’ tried to wriggle free. I spoke to Kads and he doesn’t understand why he’s been sent off. He said the referee sent him off because he ‘kicked out’, but he didn’t kick out at the player, he was just trying to get him off him so he could get back up and get back in.
“So yeah, we’ll definitely be appealing that.”
The Owls’ next game sees them host the Lions on Saturday afternoon at 3pm.
