Reda Johnson, who was a favourite with Owls fans during a three-year spell with the club from 2011 to 2014, has joined National League side Dover Athletic as a player coach.
The defender, now 33, had been without a club since leaving Eastleigh, also of the National League, in February 2020 when his contract was terminated.
Johnson has also played for Coventry City since leaving S6.

The Lincolnshire side play in the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands – level eight of the English football pyramid.
Maghoma joined Sheffield Wednesday from Burton Albion in 2013 and made more than 50 competitive appearances for the club, initially under Dave Jones and then Stuart Gray.
He has since played for Birmingham City and most recently had a spell in the Indian Super League – the top flight of Indian football – with East Bengal.

Zakuani said: "Jacques has been with an Indian Premier League side recently. Now he's back and looking for his next challenge, I look forward to introducing him to the squad at the weekend and giving him the next step on his journey.
"He has lots of ability and I am sure he will keep developing further."
Maghoma will also join up with former Peterborough United and Hull City winger Marcus Maddison, who signed for Spalding United earlier this summer after a spell with Bolton Wanderers.
