There was something notable about the way the Owls celebrated their dramatic winner, racing towards the bench to embrace as a squad.
Any notion that the squad are not together or behind manager Garry Monk seem outdated.
Steven Fletcher
The name on all Wednesdayite lips. I
t’s no coincidence that Fletcher’s lengthy absence from the side ran largely alongside that horror run of post-Christmas form and his mere presence seemed to lift the entire football club from it’s slumber.

Fernando Forestieri
Another key man on the night, who would have surely been the headline-grabber had it not been for Fletcher’s headed winner, Forestieri was Wednesday’s biggest threat until he was hauled off after a battling shift.
He took on an eye-watering 11 shots in the match and though only three of those were on target, he looked a livewire of old, picking up the ball in pockets of space in his best performance of the season by a distance.
A few more of those and it’s one Garry Monk to consider another contract extension.
Crowd
The elephant in the room.

Those that were present were excellent considering the circumstances they arrived in and those scenes in the 95th minute will surely leave many considering what they missed out on.
The win was a fine reward for Wednesdayite commitment in recent weeks.
