A turbulent 2020/21 season, with no fans allowed into the ground amid the Covid-19 pandemic, saw the Owls finish rock-bottom of the table, and there's expected to be a serious amount of comings and goings throughout the summer, as manager Darren Moore looks to build a side capable of bouncing straight back up to the Championship.
For a bit of fun, we've fired up the latest version of the brutally addictive management simulation game Football Manager, and sent it nine months into the future to take a look at every player Sheffield Wednesday are predicted to buy and sell next season as they rebuild their squad.
Here's our rundown of the Owls' 2021/22 predicted transfer business:
1. In - Jude Soonsup-Bell - from Chelsea on loan
Chelsea's starlet has been tipped as one to watch for the future, having scored 14 goals in 15 U18 games this season. He looks set to be a backup option for the Owls, who could add a bit of spark from the bench. Photo: Mike Hewitt
2. Out - Liam Shaw - to Celtic
The Wednesday youngster completes his move to the Hoops, with the Owls securing a mere £1.4k (rather than £300k) in compensation! Something has gone very wrong there, that's for sure. Photo: George Wood
3. In - Mo Besic - from Everton
What a coup this could be for the Owls. After being released by Everton, Besic is snapped up as a free agent on a short-term deal. His wages are surprisingly modest for an ex-Premier League player, too. Photo: Lynne Cameron
4. Out - Joey Pelupessy - to Vitesse
Ending a four year spell at Hillsborough, the Dutch midfielder heads back to the Netherlands upon the expiry of his contract. Photo: George Wood
