Darren Moore’s hopes for Dominic Iorfa as he sets Sheffield Wednesday return target
and live on Freeview channel 276
Iorfa hasn’t played for the Owls this year since sustaining a serious Achilles injury against Barnsley back in December, and is currently continuing his rehabilitation in his bid to get back available as soon as possible.
This season’s relegation run-in will come too soon for the talented defender, who required surgery on the injury he sustained against the Tykes, but Moore says that he’s had conversations with him about the future and insists that there’s now ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ for him.

Moore appears to have set the defender a target of making sure he’s where he needs to be to start preseason with the rest of the side in the summer, saying that the next step is to get him back out on the grass again.
Speaking to The Star about the 25-year-old, the Wednesday boss said, “I’ve had a chat with him in terms of where he’s at… He’s perfectly fine, and he understands that he’s making wonderful progress.
“There’s light at the end of the tunnel now in terms of where he’s at - he’s got to continue his rehabilitation inside, but we certainly hope in weeks to come we’ll see him back on the training ground outside jogging.
“I think when a player feels the grass and starts jogging again, he steps through another door. And that’s where he’s at.

Iorfa is the reigning SWFC Player of the Year after an impressive 2019/20 campaign under Garry Monk last time out, however has managed just 10 Championship appearances in what will probably go down as the toughest season of his career to date.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ipswich Town man is one of many Owls players this season to have battled injury, and will no doubt be looking forward to seeing the back of a campaign that has been difficult in so many ways.
