The Owls endured plenty of blows in terms of player availability under Garry Monk, and that continued following Pulis’ arrival after Dominic Iorfa was ruled out for the season and Cameron Dawson was then dealt a blow of facing six weeks out.
Today, as Wednesday sought to see out a 1-0 lead over Coventry City, the manager was forced to bring his captain, Barry Bannan, off the field with a thigh injury, although he does have some time to make sure he’s ready to face Blackburn Rovers and will be given some time off.

Meanwhile, regarding Liam Shaw, who was also taken off, he said, “Liam looked a bit leggy right at the end… He’s a young kid coming into a team that’s struggling. He’s not coming into a team that’s fluent and is retaining possession with time to rest, so he’s full out at the minute.”
The win was Pulis’ first since taking over at Hillsborough and his 100th win in the Championship since the league was formed, and he’ll now be looking to build on that win when they make the Boxing Day trip to Blackburn Rovers in a week.
