Moore had been scheduled to deputise for Dean Henderson at the AMEX Stadium, but “tweaked” his groin on Thursday according to a source.
He was replaced on the bench by Michael Verrips, who joined United from KV Mechelen during the close season.

Officials at both the world governing body and the AFAS-stadion Achter de Kazerne have confirmed there is no suggestion United, who consulted their lawyers before processing Verrips’ registration, acted unlawfully.
Moore is scheduled to be assessed by Bramall Lane’s medical department pending a decision on his potential involvement against Watford on Boxing Day.
If he is declared unfit, then Verrips, aged 23, is expected to continue in his absence.

Born in Holland, Verrips began his senior career with FC Twente and Sparta Rotterdam before eventually signing a four year contract with United.
He has represented the Netherlands at both under-19 and under-20 level since turning professional in 2014.
Verrips argued Mechelen’s involvement in a match-fixing scandal rendered his agreement there null and void.
