And although one of the world's best current players may be slightly out of Chris Wilder's reach, the Sheffield United manager was this morning asked his view on Messi being in the Premier League ahead of Sunday's game at home to AFC Bournemouth.
"Dear me," the United manager laughed when asked, with tongue firmly in cheek, if he'd like to see Messi in a United shirt.

Hide Ad"The Premier League has always attracted world-class players and will always continue to do so. But it's going to take a big number to make that [Messi] happen.
"I'm not sure I've got the courage to knock on the owner's door and push that one through. And as much as I love my city, it's a bit cold out there this morning!
"It's a fantastic division that has always attracted big players. I'm full of respect for the EFL, but the Premier League is a different level and you can see why everyone wants to be a part of it.
"Who's to say that he [Messi] won't end up at the Lane on a cold Tuesday night along the way?
"If he does, we'll ask a few questions of him. But I'm sure he'll come up with the answers."
Wilder’s men host Bournemouth at Bramall Lane on Sunday afternoon (2pm).
