Wilder, who yesterday unveiled Oliver Burke as the latest addition to his team following the arrival of Ethan Ampadu, Max Lowe and Jayden Bogle earlier this week, has held talks with officials at Anfield about the prospect of luring Brewster to Bramall Lane before the end of the transfer window.
Although United would have preferred to complete a deal for the England under-21 international before they return to competitive action on Monday - when Wolverhampton Wanderers visit South Yorkshire - Wilder accepts it could be next month until Jurgen Klopp, his counterpart in the North-West, decides if Brewster will be allowed to depart.

“In an ideal world, we’d have everyone in for Wolves,” Wilder, who has also been linked with Bayern Munich’s Leon Dajaku and Emmanuel Dennis of Club Brugge, said. “But it might be the case that a couple come in late. And if that benefits the club long term, with just under a month to go, then so be it.”
Wilder has told his board of directors that an “out and out number nine” remains the only vacancy left unfilled within his squad after swooping for Derby County duo Bogle and Lowe on Monday. Ampadu, on loan from Chelsea, quickly followed them to United before Burke was unveiled last night. The Scotland international has agreed a three year contract after leaving West Bromwich Albion, who have paid an undisclosed sum to take Callum Robinson in return. Robinson spent the second half of last term on loan at The Hawthorns, helping Slaven Bilic’s men gain promotion from the Championship.
Admitting he had discussed his move with United midfielder John Fleck while they were on duty with their country, Burke said: “When I told John, it was nice to have a conversation with him. What he told me, I really warmed to the club. It’s been on my mind for a long time, as soon as Sheffield United came about, that’s when I started thinking about it.
“It’s a great chance for me and hopefully I can take it.”

“I’ve been watching what Sheffield United have been doing and it’s been amazing. I know about the system and that we play as a two up top. I can go in either out wide or as a striker, so I’m sure I can contribute. I’m really looking forward to it, this is a brilliant opportunity for me.”
