Inquest opens into death of former Sheffield United midfielder and brother of Phil Jagielka

The 43-year-old, who played for the club alongside his younger brother under Neil Warnock in the 2003/04 season but did not make a competitive appearance, died on 15 March.
Coroner’s officer Clare Hope told the hearing, which was held in Shrewsbury on Tuesday, Mr Jagielka was pronounced dead at his home in Rodington Heath, Shropshire after police attended the address during the evening, having received a report that a man had been found unresponsive.

Hide AdThere was no evidence of third-party involvement or any suspicious circumstances, police confirmed.
Mr Jagielka’s body was identified by his cousin, the inquest was told.
John Ellery, senior coroner for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, adjourned the inquest until September 14.
Former Stoke City youngster Jagielka, who was born in Sale, also played for Shrewsbury Town, Accrington Stanley and AFC Telford United.
