Hide Ad“He’s explosive, very fast and also technically very good,” Potter said, describing Lamptey’s qualities. “He’s got a nice personality and a really good way of conducting himself. He’s got an infectious enthusiasm for his football, which is really refreshing and I think our fans will take to him.”
Lamptey, aged 19, was offered a new contract by the five-time Premier League champions but elected to pursue regular first team football on the south coast.
With Albion battling to preserve their top-flight status - Potter’s side makes the journey north nine places behind United, who are sixth - the former Ostersund and Swansea City chief could elect to include the youngster in his latest starting eleven. Particularly if Albion look to prevent Enda Stevens and George Baldock marauding up the pitch.
“He can play wing back or a little further in midfield,” Potter said. “He’s not the biggest but he’s strong in the air.”
