Wet weather warning after police claim motorist who crashed on Sheffield road was not 'driving to the conditions'

The collision took place near to A57 Manchester Road near Rivelin Dams on the outskirts of the city earlier today (Wednesday, August 24).
Sheffield residents woke up to wet weather this morning, and police officers have suggested the driver involved in the collision did not ‘drive to the conditions’.

Hide AdA spokesperson for the Police in Sheffield Twitter account said: “Second emergency call of the day for E Group was to this road traffic collision on the edge of Sheffield, where the driver wasn't driving to the conditions. Fortunately no injuries!”
They added: “It's wet out on the roads this morning, so make sure you drive slower, to match the conditions.”
Rain is forecast to continue in Sheffield until around 10am, with dry conditions persisting until around 4pm, when the wet weather is expected to return.
