West Street: This is why trams were suspended on major Sheffield city centre street

This was the scene on a major road in Sheffield city centre, following an incident that led to tram services being suspended.
The Star visited the scene this afternoon (Monday, May 13, 2024), and found a beige Honda vehicle within the area of the road being blocked off by police cars, near to the junction with Rockingham Street.

Hide AdA South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “At 2.48pm on Monday, May 13, we responded to reports of a road traffic collision involving a Beige Honda car and a grey Land Rover Freelander at the top of Rockingham Street.
“No injuries have been reported, however, due to the collision the junction to Rockingham Street from West Street is blocked.
“Removal of the vehicles is underway. Enquiries are ongoing.”
