Wintry start across South Yorkshire and Derbyshire is expected to turn drier

A chilly start has unfolded for the region today, Wednesday, February 12, with a few showers turning wintry on the hills with some snow in outlying areas, according to the Met Office.
But drier and brighter conditions are expected as the wind becomes more moderate and showers become fewer.

Hide AdBy tonight, the Met Office says rain will move in from the west and will initially fall as snow for many areas though it is expected to turn back to rain across lower levels later.
Very strong southerly winds are expected.
Temperatures may stay as low as three degrees centigrade through the morning and reach highs of around six degrees centigrade in the day before dropping to two degrees centigrade, according to the Met Office.
