The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning covering much of Britain, from London to northern Scotland, including Sheffield, for tomorrow, Saturday, July 8, from 9am to 11.59pm. People are warned to expect heavy showers and thunderstorms, which could cause flooding, posing a potential ‘danger to life’.
The thunderstorm warning also describes how homes and businesses could be damaged by floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds. There could be delays and cancellations to train and bus services too, plus difficult driving conditions, with road closures possible, and power cuts.

The latest Met Office weather forecast for Sheffield shows a sunny start to the day, with the skies clouding over at around 9am and thunder forecast at 11am and 12pm. Heavy rain is then expected between around 1pm and 2pm, followed by light showers, with more thunder likely at around 7pm.
A high of 24C is forecast for Saturday, with a low of 16C. Sunday is expected to be more settled, with the weather being mostly cloudy but sunny intervals likely in the afternoon and early evening, a 40 per cent chance of rain in the early afternoon and early evening, and a high of 23C.
