Last week, NHS workers from the Royal Hallamshire Hospital said parking fines were issued by the council despite staff displaying their permits and parking legally.
Parking Services Manager at the council Ben Brailsford said although the staff are entitled to park over the five-hour permit parking limit, they are still required to circle the appropriate date and month on the permit in their registration details to validate it.

"Penalty notices have been issued where permits have not been completed and are therefore not valid,” he said in a statement.
He said the council has supported the NHS and its staff since the initial lockdown in March, and has been positively welcomed by the local NHS trusts.
The council said those who were fined could file an appeal.
