The qualities Doncaster Rovers need to invest in
The Scot has already lined up a left back and a Premier League striker on loan, and has identified midfield as a key area to bolster.
But what attributes should Ferguson be prioritising? Sports writer Paul Goodwin takes a look...
PACE
Rovers need an injection of speed throughout the side.

Ferguson doesn’t tend to play with out-and-out wingers so pace and athleticism is something he needs at full back. He’s also likely to target a quick striker to complement the frontmen already at his disposal.
HEIGHT
Goalkeeper and centre backs aside, Rovers aren’t a squad blessed with an abundance of height.
It’s unlikely to be something Ferguson wants in a new striker because his side don’t play long and direct.

CHARACTER
No shrinking violets need apply. Rovers require players with a strong and tough mentality, players capable of making an immediate impact in the cut and thrust of League One.
When it comes to recruitment this summer another blend of youthfulness and experience would also complement the current squad quite nicely.
LEADERS
You can never have too many leaders and Rovers would definitely benefit from a few more intelligent, and perhaps stern, voices out on the pitch - particularly when skipper James Coppinger is not the type to scream and shout.
NASTINESS

John Marquis gave the team more of an ‘edge’ last season. A couple more like him would make Rovers a tougher opponent.
