South Yorkshire Police to help shape mobility scooter legislation
The request came after community safety project officer Andy Foster, from South Yorkshire Police, and Tracy Simmons, from Parkgate Mobility, met the Minister of State for Transport, Baroness Kramer.
They were invited to speak about Scooter Safe ‑ a free two-hour training session delivered across South Yorkshire to teach mobility scooter users about the law, the highway code and safety issues.

“We also delivered part of the Scooter Safe presentation showing images of collisions involving mobility scooters.
“Baroness Kramer and her team showed a lot of interest of the facts presented and our view that existing legislation could be improved by making insurance compulsory on the larger class three road legal mobility scooters
“We also believe that there should be some form of training for users prior to taking to the roads.”
