Sheffield woman completes 5k challenge one year after near-fatal brain haemorrhage
Helen Foster, from Hackenthorpe, was joined by a team of over 40 friends and relatives as the Head Start event for the Sheffield charity which works to improve the lives of people with brain disease and injury.
Just 15 months ago Helen was rushed to hospital after feeling unwell and was diagnosed with a subarachnoid brain haemorrhage, which required surgery.

Hide AdHer family was told to ‘hope for the best but expect the worse’.
She spent six days in a coma, five weeks on a ward and two weeks in a rehabilitation centre.
The 49 year-old grandmother-of-one now suffers from epilepsy and fatigue but said she wanted to show her gratitude to the medics who saved her life.
“I would like to thank the surgeons and all the medical staff that saved my life and continue to assist me on my road to recovery,” she said.

She has raised £1,000 so far at the event at Rother Valley Country Park.
