Sheffield Wednesday: Beating Aston Villa is just the start, we'll get even better, says Carlos Carvalhal
Striker Fernando Forestieri’s well-taken late strike ensured Wednesday got off to a winning start at Hillsborough yesterday.
Carvalhal, who is still seeking to bring in defensive reinforcements, said: “I’m happy we won.

“When you win the first game, you are under less pressure.
“It was important to win. It will give us confidence, of course, but we are taking it just one game at a time.
“We can do better. We are still trying to improve the team but we are in a very good way.”

He said: “The fans were amazing.
“They supported our team and were crucial in us beating a tough opponent.
“Before the game I said we were ready for the competition. Compared to last season we were more compact and more aggressive.
“We moved the ball well and when we didn’t have the ball we had a good reaction.”

Carvalhal has confirmed Fletcher will play no part in their EFL Cup first round tie at Cambridge United tomorrow night.
