Sheffield tree protesters due in court
Author and university lecturer Simon Crump, aged 56, is due in court alongside fellow tree protester Calvin Payne, over a protest they staged on November 2 in a bid to protect a 100-year-old plane tree from being felled on Marden Road, Nether Edge.
They have been charged under the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992, which criminalises those who stop people from carrying out lawful work.

Three more protesters, including two pensioners, were arrested at another protest at tree felling on Rustlings Road, Endcliffe, on November 17.
They woke up to find contractors felling trees on their street at 5am.
Police officers knocked on doors to ask residents to move their cars to allow the tree felling to be carried out.
