Police probe into taxi shooting in Sheffield continues

The taxi was shot at in Margate Drive, Pitsmoor, at around 9.35pm on Tuesday after pulling up in the street for a pre-booked fare.

Hide AdSouth Yorkshire Police said a blue Audi pulled up alongside the taxi and a gun was fired at the vehicle.
The driver, whose window was shattered, escaped unharmed, but police said it is possible that his three passengers – men in their 20s - may have been hurt.
Enquiries are under way to trace the men.
Lats night a 23-year-old man remained in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.

Hide AdDetective Inspector Lee Nesbeth, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “Enquiries are ongoing and I would like to identify and speak to the passengers of the taxi who left the scene.
“There is a possibility that one, or more, of the occupants of the vehicle are injured and may need medical treatment.”
