John Bond , spokesman for Yorkshire Water, said: “Over the last few months, we’ve liaised closely with Bloor Homes and Sheffield Council’s highways department to understand how we can all work together to carry out this essential work, whilst minimising disruption to local residents and businesses in the area.
“However, it’s inevitable that two-way traffic lights will be required and it’s expected that a full closure will be needed for a number of weeks to allow our contract partners to work safely.”
The plans are part of a much wider strategy, facilitated by Sheffield Council, which includes the 413 home development in Deepcar by Bloor Homes on the former brickworks site.

At the event, people will be able to see the proposals from both Yorkshire Water and Bloor Homes and meet members of the project teams. Representatives from Sheffield Council Highways and Stocksbridge Town Council will also be there to answer questions.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to give their views on how best to minimise disruption during the construction.
In addition to the new treatment works, a new sewer will need to be laid along Manchester Road. It is expected that this work will start mid-March.
