Pie week: Nine crust-worthy Sheffield pie outlets to dash your Hendo's on
As British Pie Week starts today, March 6, here are just nine establishments which offer fantastic pies worth trying with a dash or ten of Sheffield-made Henderson's Relish.
The Broadfield, Abbeydale Road
It’s far to say The Broadfield is now famous for its comforting pies that would keep anyone warm in winter. Every day there is a different selection of golden creations to get your teeth stuck into. Past hand-pressed favourites include everything from beef and ale to curried squash, okra and cashew nut

Stilton or cheese and pickle toppings are popular. For those who can’t snap them up in bulk at the source, they are also on sale at the newest micropub on Ecclesall Road, Portland House.
The Figtree sandwich shop, Figtree Lane
Many city centre workers wait for Wednesdays with glee, eager to snap up a £3.50 special slab of steak pie. They come drowning in gravy and peas.
Silversmiths, Arundel Street
A pie and steak night was started on Tuesdays by Gordon Ramsay when he revamped the city centre restaurant. The options include creamy fish and pork pies mixed with cider, leeks and other goodies. Good value starters and sweets also available.
The Old House, Division Street, city centre
Diners can get two pies with all the trimmings - peas, chips and gravy - on Tuesday nights. Buttery pasty is truly packed from bottom to top with solid filling, often there is a tiny pastry animal on top. Choices change daily.
Rhubabrd Shed cafe, 389 Manor Lane, Sheffield.

In the past the chicken with wild mushroom option has impressed, with fragrant tarragon and thyme plus nutty mushrooms. More recently a chicken and chorizo was on the menu.
Ye Olde Mustard Pot, Midhopestones
A proper country pub selling proper steak an ale. An ideal stop off after a country walk - and if you need to sleep off the pastry they do rooms too.
Waggon and Horses, Langsett
Take a drive out to Langsett and sample one of the many pies here. The meat and potato has been on the menu, and a favourite, for an incredible 30 years. Its hearty beyond belief. Best eaten in front of the fire.
Cafe Pie, South Road, Walkley
No prizes for guessing what they serve at this retro venue...
There’s a wide variety of fillings, from family recipes, but regulars rave about the steak and kidney.
