Based in Barnsley, the event has grown from the original 40 guests to over 250 as it helps people, especially the elderly combat loneliness and social isolation.

Hide AdCllr Makinson, who attended her first Superjam concert described the event as a ‘fantastic achievement’ and how she looks forward to attending it in person once the restrictions on social gatherings are lifted.
She said: “For anyone that’s been able to attend and have these events in their diary, I’m sure they’ve been something to look forward to – I’m sure it’s been a real boost to their wellbeing.
"After all, an afternoon of lovely company, great music and afternoon tea is a real lift to the spirit, and something we are all in need of more than ever during these difficult times.”
She said the Superjam events have been a great boost, especially for anyone that may be more socially isolated than usual as a result of a bereavement, loneliness, illness or disability.

"As a national charity, the Alzheimer’s Society relies heavily on fundraising events such as this to raise vital funds along with their profile. Without fundraising events, the charity would not exist.
“Thank you for staying safe and well and please, when it is your turn, take up the offer of the vaccine. We are now seeing light at the end of the tunnel and I for one, can’t wait to have my vaccine,” she said.
Hundreds of elderly people have taken part in the Superjam parties across South Yorkshire – offline and online – as they offer invaluable respite for them.
