Sheffield mum slams Covid guidelines after parents banned from school’s Sports Day

The 31-year-old mother-of-two who only wanted to be known as Jessica, said such a move was "hypocritical" when the children, who move in bubbles, couldn't get the fair treatment they deserved.
She said: "It's rubbish what's going on. It's annoying because football matches are allowed to go on. Parents are absolutely furious and I am sure many more in the community agree with this."

Hide AdShe said her children, who are in Y5 and Y1, had their sports day on Wednesday and she said parents were informed that they were not invited to it.
"The children have gone through so much and as adults, we understand what the children do and they move in bubbles.
"But big football matches don't come in bubbles like that..this is all rubbish."
She said even if the parents were invited, not all would have been able to turn up and they could still adhere to the two-metre social distancing rule.

Hide Ad"Not every parent would have been able to attend on Sports Day. It's not like we're going to have 100 parents on the field anyway. It's crazy."
Current Covid guidelines state that gatherings must not exceed 30 people unless covered by a legal exemption.
Meanwhile, football fans allowed in stadiums will need to follow a number of strict entry requirements including having a negative Covid-19 test or proof of full vaccination - two doses received, 14 days before the fixture.
