Sheffield council announces changes to bin collections over Christmas and New Year

Sheffield City Council has issued details of when dates will change.
There will be no bin collections on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day in the city.

Hide AdOnly Friday collection days will change. The changes are as follows:
Normal date Friday 25 December, new date Sunday 27 December
Normal date Friday 1 January, new date Saturday 2 January
All other recycling and waste collections will take place as normal, residents are asked to check their collection calendar online for further information.
Bins should be placed kerbside by 7am on the morning of your collection with the lid shut.
As additional waste is expected over the festive period, the council will allow for up to two more bags of waste to be collected on your scheduled date, between the 27 December and 22 January.

Hide AdThese bags will only be lifted if they are tied and placed next to your black bin by 7am.
The council has announced that they will also allow for additional amounts of recycling to be uplifted alongside your recycle bin collection.
Up to two bags of extra tins, cans and plastic bottles will be collected, if placed in a tied carrier bag and put out with your brown bin.
Glass bottles or jars must be placed inside brown bins, otherwise the extra recycling will not be collected.

Hide AdSheffield City Council will also allow for small amounts of additional paper and card to be tied in a bundle and put next to blue bins for refuse collection - however, the additional bundle should be no bigger than the size of the bin.
Additional festive recycling can also be carried out by residents by visiting your local Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC).
Household Waste Recycling Centres will be open between Sunday, 27 December and Thursday, 31 December from 10am to 4pm.
However, they will all be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, and will close at 3pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
