Sheffield care home for people with dementia gets a top rating

The health watchdog visited Woodland View care home in Lightwood, and inspectors said they were impressed by the kindness of staff.
The NHS home, which cares for 30 people with complex or enhanced dementia, has been rated ‘good’ by the CQC since 2017.

Hide AdInspectors highlighted how relatives and carers were all involved in the decisions made about the care of their loved one, and praised the range of activities for residents.
They also praised the availability of an on-site dysphagia specialist who supports residents who have problems swallowing.
James Sherwin, registered manager at Woodland View, said: “I am so proud of the team for the amazing work they do caring for our residents.
“What was really special to us was the feedback from our residents and their families.

Clive Clarke, interim chief executive at Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust, said: “If your loved one is in care home, especially when they have dementia, you want the reassurance that they are being looked after with the kindness and dignity they deserve.
