Paradise for muggers
I strongly disagree with the article in The Star claiming the Hole in the road was an iconic feature of the city centre.
It was nothing but a mugger’s and beggar’s paradise.
My mother was mugged there after visiting a relative but the mugger came off worse as she was carrying a bag with a turnip and cabbage in.
When he tried to get her bag she swung the bag round and he ran off with a bloody nose.
She was in her 70s but afraid of nobody.
