LETTERS: City centre beggar busy on her mobile phone
One for the, ‘You couldn’t make it up section.’
On the afternoon of December 7 I passed a female beggar, sitting in a doorway between the Yorkshire Bank and Dempsey’s pub at the bottom of The Moor.
I heard her pleading to others as I approached, in broken English, in a feeble voice: “No home, no food, give money please.”
I walked past her about 20 minutes later.
However, this time she couldn’t be bothered to beg.
She was too busy having a laugh and being very cheery on her mobile phone.
