So it’s no surprise people are making the same joke about the city when captioning a video that’s gone viral online.
The clip, which shows elite runners struggling to make their way up a steep slope several hundred feet above ground level – with some even on their hands and knees – has been viewed 1.2 million times on Twitter.

Hide AdAnd users have compared it to the experience of walking in the Steel City.
One wrote: “Just your everyday walk in Sheffield”, while another said: “I lived in Sheffield for five years, come at me.”
Another user dismissed the runners’ experiences as “literally normal for us Sheffield people.”
Others compared the ascent to walking up some of the steepest roads in Sheffield, including Jenkin Hill and Conduit Road.
