'I'm sure we can turn the season around. There are a lot of great players on board.'
Sharks coach Atiba Lyons believes Smith can fit into the big shoes of fan favourite Tony Wroblicky.
He said: 'We were looking for a big man position since the departure of Tony and over the summer we struggled to see the right fit.
