Sheffield scrapyard blaze will take days to put out say firefighters

People have been urged to avoid the area as a scrap yard fire continues to rage and nearby residents told to keep windows and doors closed.
Carlisle Street in Sheffield is closed between Newhall Road and Carwood Road due to the fire in the recycling plant.

Hide AdIn an update issued at around 9am, a South Yorkshire fire Service spokesman said: “We've still got four fire engines and a high volume pump at the fire on Carlisle Street in Sheffield which we've been dealing with since Thursday afternoon.
" We're still asking people to avoid the area and for residents living nearby to keep windows and doors closed.”
They are planning a fire break in the scrap pile with diggers brought in to create a gap in the rubble to slow down the spread.
