Sheffield man punched and kicked girlfriend in the head during 20-minute horror attack
Kersley Hopkins, aged 30, of Minna Road, Pitsmoor, was sentenced for an attack on his girlfriend at the time on February 7 this year.
Two passing students heard the victim’s cries for help on Brightmore Drive, Netherthorpe, and stepped in to help.

Hide AdBut one of the Good Samaritans was also attacked by Hopkins.
Sheffield Crown Court heard that Hopkins had repeatedly punched and kicked his partner in her head and chest in a ‘violent’ attack which continued for 20 minutes.
He repeatedly chased her and kicked his victim as she was on the floor.
South Yorkshire Police said it had been ‘unprovoked’.When the two students attempted to help and call the police, Hopkins punched one of them in the face as soon as the call connected.

Hide AdDetective Constable Louise Radford said: “The victim’s bravery since this horrific attack has been remarkable.
“She has been completely supportive of our investigation and after such a violent incident, I can only imagine the great deal of courage this must have taken.
“For her, this was a clearly a terrifying experience and will have a lasting impact, however I hope the fact that Hopkins is now behind bars means she can start to move forward.
“I hope Hopkins’s sentence reassures victims of domestic abuse that we take this type of crime incredibly seriously. We are here to listen, work with and support victims to ensure perpetrators get the punishment they deserve.

Hopkins was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on Monday, August 3 after pleading guilty to two counts of grievous bodily harm and common assault.
